Are You Wondering If You’re Pregnant?
“Am I really pregnant?” It’s a question very few women want to ask themselves unexpectedly. If you’ve recently had sex and your period is late, there is the possibility you are pregnant.
Now’s the time to find out. Begin the process of confirming your pregnancy with a no-cost lab-quality pregnancy test at Juneau Pregnancy Resource Center. Let us be your first step.
How Does A Pregnancy Test Work?
When a woman becomes pregnant, her body produces a hormone called human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG). It begins right after a fertilized egg attaches to the wall of a woman’s uterus and builds up in her urine and bloodstream. If hCG is detected in her urine, she’s pregnant.
We provide free and confidential lab-quality pregnancy tests–the same urine pregnancy tests used in some hospitals. Don’t wait or worry. Find out today!
When Is The Best Time To Take A Pregnancy Test?
Because it takes days for the hCG hormone to build to a detectable level, we recommend waiting until after your missed period before taking a pregnancy test.
If your monthly cycle is regular (every 28 to 30 days), you can test a day or two after you expected your period to start. However, if your periods are irregular, we suggest waiting for 5 to 6 days afterward. The longer you wait, the more accurate your results will be.
The Test Is Positive. Now What?
Even if you have gotten a positive test result, it is important to verify that your pregnancy is viable. A pregnancy test simply confirms the presence of hCG, but does not give information about how far along you are, the progression of your pregnancy, or whether your fertilized egg is correctly implanted in your uterus. It is possible to receive a positive test even if you have miscarried. The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) estimates that 26% of all pregnancies end in miscarriage. Ultrasound is the only way to confirm you have a viable pregnancy.
