When Should I Take A Pregnancy Test?
Taking a pregnancy test at the right time is vital to get the most accurate result. If your periods are regular, take a test a couple of days after you expected your period to start. If you do not have a normal monthly cycle, wait for 5 or 6 days.
What Does My Appointment Cost?
All of our services at Juneau Pregnancy Resource Center are free and confidential. You will not be asked to pay for anything.
Are Abortions Safe?
All medical and surgical procedures carry some risks and potential side effects, both physical and emotional. If you use the abortion pill method, it is possible to have an incomplete abortion, experience heavy and prolonged bleeding, or develop an infection. A surgical procedure can damage your cervix or uterus, cause a build-up of scar tissue, or lead to infection. It is also important to be screened and treated for sexually-transmitted diseases prior to a surgical abortion. Left untreated, certain STDs/STIs--which may be asymptomatic--can lead to Pelvic Inflammatory Disease which can cause infertility. Finally, some women experience sadness, anxiety, or other negative emotions after their abortions. Contact us to learn more about the various abortion methods and their associated side effects and risks. If you have already had an abortion and need some help working through your emotions, please also reach out. We have caring advocates who are here for you.
Do You Provide Abortions?
We provide medically accurate information about abortion procedures. We can refer you for a free limited ultrasound to determine a viable pregnancy and see how far along you are. This information helps determine what options are available to you. Juneau Pregnancy Resource Center does not offer or refer for abortion.
